Xoma has completed the first phase of its collaboration with Mandalay Resources at Björkdalsgruvan. Initial tests show that the company's technology can recover significant amounts of microscopic gold that would otherwise be lost in the thickener's overflow flow. "The preliminary results were very good and show clear potential for increased total gold recovery", Xoma writes in a press release.The project is outside the company's core business FLOW but is considered to have significant commercial upside.“We are pleased to be able to so quickly demonstrate a tangible added value in a demanding industrial environment,” says Mourad Lahdo, CEO of Xoma.Björkdalsgruvan is one of Europe's largest primary gold mines.
