Xoma, which develops technology for algae cultivation, is moving forward with mining company Boliden and is beginning construction of a first pilot facility at Rönnskär. The project will test the company’s algae-based purification technology for process water in an industrial environment.The pilot facility will verify performance and optimize operation at a relevant scale. The project cost amounts to a maximum of 1 million SEK and is financed by Xoma."This is an important strategic step for Xoma AB. Xoma also emphasizes that a full-scale conventional treatment facility for industrial process water with heavy metals often costs hundreds of millions of SEK to build, with significant operating costs.
