Vaccine and biotechnology company Abera Bioscience has successfully completed GMP production of clinical trial material for the vaccine candidate Ab-01.12, a nasal vaccine against pneumococci. This is stated in a press release.The company is now moving on to the next development phase and is preparing an application to initiate clinical trials with relevant authorities. The planned clinical study is designed as a sequential dose-escalating first-in-human (FIH) study. The primary objective is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of Ab-01.12 in healthy volunteers. Secondary objectives include immunological markers, including mucosal antibodies in the mucous membranes as well as systemic antibody responses in the blood. The study will be conducted at Radboud UMC in the Netherlands.Abera and Radboud UMC assess that the first patient could be vaccinated in autumn 2026, provided that regulatory approvals are obtained.
