Exploration company Beowulf Mining has launched a supplementary drilling program at the iron ore project Kallak in northern Sweden. The initial campaign comprises 1,000 drill meters spread across seven holes and aims to upgrade near-surface mineral resources from the Inferred category to Measured and Indicated ahead of an updated mineral resource estimate and the upcoming pre-feasibility study. The first drill hole has been completed to a depth of 174 meters, longer than the original plan of 160 meters, following indications of continued strong magnetite mineralization. The second hole has been started. The company states that more than 80 percent of the mineral resource in Kallak North is already classified as Measured and Inferred, while the current drilling focuses on the northern part where drill density is lower. If the financing announced on July 7 is completed, the program can be expanded to approximately 1,500 drill meters. No financial details are provided regarding the initiative. ”It is very gratifying that drilling has now been launched at the Kallak project. The purpose of this supplementary drilling program is to upgrade parts of the near-surface mineral resources that are currently classified as Inferred mineral resources to the Measured and Indicated mineral resource categories, so that they can be included in a future update of the mineral resource estimate and ultimately form the basis for the pre-feasibility study", says Beowulf Mining CEO Ed Bowie. He continues."Kallak has previously been extensively explored through drilling, and more than 80 percent of the mineral resources in Kallak North are already classified in the higher-confidence Measured and Indicated mineral resource categories. However, there are still Inferred mineral resources in the northern part of the planned open pit in Kallak North at relatively shallow depth. Since this material is expected to be included in the mine plan during the first years of production, it is important to gain a better understanding of it from a development perspective. It will also have a significant impact on the project's economics.”
